Teachers Gifts for the End of Term

I have really been stressing about a teachers gift for the end of term, and panicking that I wouldn't get things sorted in time. So yesterday was my day off, and I set to work on the gifts.


A couple of weeks ago whilst blog hopping, I saw some really pretty boxes, which got me thinking that I could do something similar.

So I first had to make some mini chocolate chip cookies, to go in the boxes.

I'd already decided the colour scheme of the boxes was going to be pink and purple so that they matched perfectly with the teachers thank you cards that I blogged last week.

So I went about making some tags for the boxes. For this I used exactly the same card that I had for the cards, and cut 2 labels using Labels 4 Nestablities. I had also decided to add an eyelet to the label for a better result for threading the ribbon, and also because I hardly every use my cropadile! The 'Thank you' is part of the 'with gratitude' cuttlebug die that I picked up from Hobbycraft at the weekend for £4.00 - a real bargin as it came with another embossing folder.

Then I made up 6 boxes: 3 pink and 3 purple, using the same card as for the cards and tags. My OH created the design of the box using the Craft Robo. After many attempts and tweaks we came up with something that both of us were happy with.

You would not belive how long it took to get the template right considering that it is made out of one piece of A4 and four small bits of DST!

To give the box a bit of a lift I decided to emboss the top and flap of the box using the daisy cuttlebug folder (as used on the cards) and it worked beautifully.

Finally, after filling each box with 6 cookies, and adding a piece of ribbon these are the finished results, and I love them!

The kids took them into school today, and their teachers and assistants loved them, so all my hard work was well worth while.

Now I have mastered the boxes, I will be making many more in the future.

A Mans Card

Only realised today, that it was one of my best friends OH's birthday tomorrow, so have had to make a quick card for him tonight. Luckily I had some golfing embellishments in my stash that I could use - think they came from Wilkinsons a while ago.

I have used a plain square white card and matted some silver and green onto it. It really isn't clear from the photo but for the white card under the 3d embellishments I have made another 'watermark' backing sheet, and this time it is of a golfer taking a swing shot, that I got from clipart in word. It looks really effective in the flesh. Another first for me was doing some hand drawn faux stitches, which actually gave the card a lift. Decided to do it on the sentiment to, but went a bit to wonky, but never mind, it is the thought that counts. Nice, simple and easy to make card, and I am please with how it has come out.

I've had a bit of time this afternoon, to finally get on an make the teachers and teaching assistants cards for the kids to give out at the end of term on Friday.

I've made four in pink and four in purple using exactly the same layout and image.

The image is from Squiggyfly, and is one of the ones I won earlier in the year.

Now that I have boosted my promarker collection I have been able to use different shades for different areas.

Really pleased with how they have come out.

I've used a square white card onto which I have matted some pink/purple card, which has been embossed through the cuttlebug with the daisy folder. The image was matted onto gemstone card, and an coordinating shade of pink/purple used with a friskas boarder punch on the left hand side under the image. A piece of ribbon from my stash has also been added in a contrasting colour.

Been AWOL for a while, but am now back doing what I love

Can't believe it has been almost 3 months since I last blogged. Had a bit of a tough time lately what with one thing and another, and had completely lost my cardmaking mojo. Yesterday I was asked to make a card for a friend based on a bottle of ketchup! The criteria was for there to be a ketchup bottle on it somewhere, the name of the person it was for, and the school name somewhere. It turns out that it is a thank you card of a teacher at her daughters school, and he absolutely loves tomato ketchup, and has it with everything. Well this is what I came up with, another 3d part decoupage card:

The teacher's name is Mr Coleman, and I decided to put a photo of him on the neck of the bottle, and add Est 2010, so he knew when he got it. CPFJ is the name of the school. It isn't a really clear photo but was the only one I could find on the school website.

I have decoupaged the label, bottle top, and label on the neck of the bottle and printed them all out on photo paper, so they are really glossy, although you can't tell from the photo. The picture was then matted onto some silver and red card. I have made the white card background paper, and for the first time tried out 'watermarks' in Word, and have just copied and resized the main bottle lots of times to give the effect on the white card. Really please with the result and my friend loved it.

I finally got a chance at the weekend to try out the Promarkers that I bought recently. After winning the Incy Wincy Blog Challenge a couple of weeks ago, my prize was 3 digi stamps from Squigglefly, and this was one of the ones I chose.

I have used a white square card, and used some deep purple cardstock as a base colour which I ran through the cuttlebug with the daisy embossing folder. I have matted the image onto a scalloped circle cut from some purple gemstone card, so there is a bit of a glittery effect to it.

I have used the same deep purple card to punch out some flowers, and added a gemstone to the middle of the flower to give it a bit of sparkle. The ribbon and sentiment were from my stash.

Pink Girly Butterfly Cards

One of my mums friends asked me last week to make her a couple of pink girly birthday cards for her 2 grand daughters (10 and 8) later this month. She asked me to make sure that one had to be more pink and glittery than the other.

These are the 2 cards I came up with:

This first one is for the 10 year old, and I have added some 'stickles' to the edge of the butterfly, and 3 pearls to the middle of it.

The ribbon matches the colour of the butterfly, and the pink flower was colour with one of my new promarkers.

Hopefully although this card is quite plain and simple, it is elegant enough for a 10 year old, and she will like it.

I love this photo and the shadows the sun created for the butterfly.

For the second card I have used some light pink gemstone card stock to cut the butterfly out on the Craft Robo, and added some deep pink gems to the middle of the butterfly.

This has been put onto some embossed swirl white card, which I have drawn over with pink stickles. I love the effect it has given and will be doing it again in the future, even if it took me quite a while and made my hand hurt!

The swirly white card, has been matted onto some more pink gemstock card, and then matted onto silver mirror card.

The pink and white flowers were from my stash, as was the ribbon and sentiment.

I love this card, and it has given me another way to use my butterflies.

My OHs Birthday Cards

It is my OHs birthday tomorrow so I have had to come up with 2 cards, one from me and one from the kids. Since I am paying for us to go on a ghost hunt in August for his birthday to the Tower of Terrors at Alton Towers, I figured the card had to be on a 'haunted' theme, so have come up with this card, which I hope he likes.

I desparately tried to find a spooky picture of the Alton Towers, but there weren't any on the internet, so I went with this one instead, as it looks quite spooky to me. All I have done with this card is print out my own backing paper which says a load of words associated with ghosts; haunted houses etc - thought I would struggle with finding enough words to be honest, but managed to come up with over 40, so I typed them out in a creepy looking font, and then just copied and pasted them to fill a page. I've matted the words onto silver mirror card and black card, and added the spooky house into a frame, that I thought looked quite old and destressed. I received the frame with some other bits and pieces as a prize from The Wife on MSE. The sentiment is from craftworkcards.

This second card is one from the kids, and my instructions from my eldest son, was it had to be something to do with a dairy milk chocolate bar, which is my OHs favourite chocolate bar. So I came up with this, another 3d card, that is supposed to look like a bar of dairy milk, and if I do say so myself I think I have achieved it!

I have made this card in the same way as the 3d gadget cards and just found a picture from the internet, printed it out in the size I wanted. Made some copies of the parts that I wanted to decoupage - cadburys, milk glasses, chocolate cube, and cut them all out and layered them with 3d foam pads on the top of the main picture. To make it look a little more realistic I have used pinking shears to cut the edges of the main image, and used the scoreboard to score the edges of the bar to lift the wrapper edges up to give it a bit more dimension.

Then I have matted it onto some silver mirror card and dark purple card. Again the sentiment is from craftwork cards. The kids wanted to put a real bar on the card too, so the final card that they will give him tomorrow will look like this, and once he takes the real bar off it will reveal the sentiment:

A vase of flowers

The lovely Margaret over on MSE made a fab get well card for a mutual friend and I fell in love with it. She has very kindly shared the image with me which she has coloured in using paintshop pro on the computer. I have spent all afternoon creating these two cards that are very different styles, but use exactly the same items.

First of all I have made this easel card that I would like to enter into the current Creative Craft World Challenge to make an easel card for any occassion. I have made a 4" x 4" card using some deep red card, to which I have matted silver mirror card and the red paper from the 'My Mind's Eye Spring Paper Pack. I have cut the image with an oval nestability, and backed it onto the same deep red card using a scalloped oval nestability.

To hold the card up I have used a Craftwork 'Happy Birthday' oval sentiment which has been put in the middle of red, silver and mind's eye paper.

To finish the card off I have added 3 punched flowers at the bottom of the base and put a silver card candy on the middle of each flower. Really pleased with how this card has turned out.

This second card, is my first ever gatefold card, and one that I found whilst searching on Youtube the other day. Now that I have mastered my MS Scoreboard I was able to score the lines on this card. The card and papers used are exactly the same as the ones in the above card, with the addition of a piece of red ribbon on the right hand side. This card was relatively easy to make, and the longest part was cutting out the rectangles to matt. I have also matted panels on the inside and when I send the card to someone, will use some cream pearlescent paper to write the greeting out. Again, I am really happy with the way this card has turned out. I'd like to enter this card into the DareU2 current challenge - anything goes.

A Get Well Card for Rusty

Rusty over on MSE has been taken into hospital, so the lovely Sarah has set a challenge to cheer Tams up, by sending her a get well card.

I have just made this for her and will be posting it first thing tomorrow.

I have used a cream square card, and matted onto it some gold glitter film, and a square of cream linen effect card. The flowers were cut with a woodware punch, and the letters on the craft robo. I have added 3d foam pads to the letters to give it a bit of dimension.

A blog update

Although I have neglected my blog for a couple of weeks, I have been busy making cards, and these are some of my recent makes.


This card was made for one of my sons friends, who is a big Crystal Palace fan.

I have 'Wordled' the names of the teams football players, and included his surname as well to make it more personal.


Charlie loved it, and even rang me a couple of days later just to say how cool he thought it was. Hearing this made my day.

This one was for Marg over on MSE, and very quickly put together. The image is one that I have on the computer, and coloured in with Paintshop Pro and I have matted it onto some bright pink glitter card.


The ribbon across the middle is the same colour as the pink card, and the bottom of the card has been run through the cuttlebug with the swiss dots folder.


The sentiment was from Craftworks Cards, and I have added a couple of punched flowers to either side of it, and finished it off with a pearl in the middle of each flower.


I made a couple of these from a template on the
Craft Robo, and although it is a bit fiddly to cut out all the different coloured card, and stick it all together, the effect you get I think is really good.

I made one for my uncle, and another to add to the ones that I am making up for a car boot sale - should have done some last weekend, but with the weather being so naff, I didn't bother, and will wait for the better weather again, and it will also allow me to make some more cards I have to take.

I'm hoping to have about 30 done, and at £1.00 a card if they all sell, that will be some more money for some card making stash!





This is the card that my oldest son Harry made for his brother and the beginning of last month.

He did almost all of it himself, with a little help from me cutting the matted card he used.

He chose the cars he wanted from the internet, merged them into one picture, that was printed on photo paper.

He used the cuttlebug to cut the oval, and added the peel off stickers. Jack loved it.




My friends husbands dad died a few weeks ago, so I made this card for him.





I swiss dotted the gold and cream card, and just matted it all together. Something was missing on the lefthand side, so I just added a length of gold stretchy cord to finish it off
