I can't believe that it is almost 2 months since I last blogged.
Home life has been incredibly busy, and hopefully that should change now that the kids have broken up from school.
The majority of my spare time has been spent being a taxi driver for the kids clubs; sorting the garden out and growing my first ever veggies - we have loads of tomatoes coming, as well as carrots; cuecumbers and lettuces. We also have had some gorgeous strawberries and the blackberries are now starting to appear. I thought this year I would try growing some veggies/fruit and being a very novice gardener thought that you plant the seeds/plants and after a period of time you pick the things you have grown and eat them. I hadn't reckoned on having to nuture the plants and make sure they survive to the point that you can eat them by picking off the slugs and snails! Our garden is full of them, and when starting out I hadn't appreciated what a problem they can be. So most nights at dusk I have been going on a slug hunt, to catch the monsters!
Someone suggested laying some beer for them to get happy on, and have to say that that seems to have done the job. I really didn't want to have to use slug pellets, so this was the preferred option.
I have been crafting a bit over the last couple of months, but only making what I needed too. Now the kids are off school until September, I am hoping that I will get a bit more done, because before you know it, it will be almost Christmas.
